Pharmacies are a critical component in the overall delivery of health care in the U.S., and Pharmacy Technicians play an important role in the operation of pharmacies. A pharmacy technician career includes duties such as entering prescriptions into a computer, maintaining records and inventories of drugs and supplies, stocking pharmaceuticals, pricing medications, among other things. The pharmacy technician has recently become indispensable to the healthcare industry because they allow pharmacists to spend more time on other responsibilities. "Up to 73,850 Pharmacy Technician jobs are expected to become available between 2002 and 2012." (U.S. Department of Labor)

The Pharmacy Technician diploma program provides the entry-level skills necessary to assist pharmacists. Upon completion of all on campus coursework, students will be required to complete a 160-hour clinical externship at one of the college's clinical education sites.
