Surgical Technology Programs
Surgical Technologists, also called "Scrubs" and "Surgical or Operating Room Technicians," assist in surgical operations under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses or other surgical personnel. They are members of operating room teams. As a Surgical technologist you will be responsible for essential duties before, during and after
surgical procedures. Tasks include the preparation of operating room and patients, organization and maintenance of instruments and equipment, cleaning of operating room, and replenishment of supplies.

The MedVance Surgical Technology program offers classroom studies, skill-building in the lab setting and hands-on experience at the clinical extern sites. Graduates are fully prepared for employment in today's fast-paced operating rooms. Graduates of the program qualify to sit for the certification examination offered by the Liason Council On Certification for the Surgical Technologist (LCCST).

Each course stands alone as a unit of study and is not dependent upon prerequisite training.
A student may enter the program at the beginning of any course and continue through the
sequence until completion of all courses. Following the completion of the coursework, you will
have the opportunity to participate in an eight-week externship at a hospital, surgicenter or
private physician's office assisting surgeons during surgery in the operating room.

Students who graduate from the Allied College - North Surgical Technologist program receive an Associate of Applied Science Degree. Upon graduation, students will be qualified to sit for the NCCT (National Center for Competency Testing) TECH in Surgery-Certified (TS-C) NCCT Certification Examination.
